I used to sunbathe topless on my roof when I lived about a block from an Irish Social Club…I’d sit up there and look at the side door of the most efficient drug dealer I’ve ever met. A modern medicine man of sorts, I guess. But he was good and a really nice neighbor. Way quieter than the kids next door. Haha. But it was a good place, but yes…I definitely see your point on the absurdity of making women’s bodies something to be fetishized by keeping them covered in such a way that suggests there’s something shameful about them. I’m coming around.

In Germany, we have a much more relaxed attitude about this. People casually go topless in public swimming pools, and nudity in spaces like saunas is the norm. In the eastern parts of Germany nudism is even more common, you'll have special beaches and Nudity clubs.
It’s a striking difference to the way body positivity and natural human expressions are treated elsewhere, and your letter is a much-needed reminder of the absurdity of body shaming.

It all traces back to the so-called Puritans and the deep-rooted bigotry in parts of the population.
